This project is rooted in the stories of people with Filipino heritage who were confronted with the discovery that the man they had always known as their father is not their biological father.
What began as my own personal search grew into a shared narrative, revealing how such experiences are shaped by secrecy and the complexity of family structures. At its core are the stories and emotions that arise when a fundamental truth about one's origins shifts, and the process of coming to terms with that change.
For this project, I primarily focused on creating portraits and filming interviews, in which we (partially) share our stories. This is an attempt to raise awareness around these kinds of experiences and to create space for them to be shared. In addition, I collected archival material from each participant to revisit the past in relation to this discovery. These images function as fragments of a former reality, now reinterpreted through a new perspective.
